Several years ago I started a series of essays on aspects of photography on a website I called "Photaku" (photo + otaku), but as these thing usually go, I got busy and effectively abandoned it. I did the same thing with a rudimentary gallery of photos a few years before that. So why start another photography site? Partly because I just got a new iMac and finally broke down and bought the Adobe Creative Cloud Photography bundle, which in addition to Lightroom (CC and Classic) and Photoshop CC, includes Portfolio to create sites like this, so I wanted to try it out. But I'm also hoping that the new investment will prompt me to organize some of my photos in meaningful ways on this site and revitalize the essay-writing at photaku.net.
